Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
Clinical activities
- Performs clinical procedures and documents results.
- Prepares and monitors patients.
- Performs diagnostic exams on patients.
Supports and performs procedures within the Connecticut Gastrointestinal Institute.
- Performs testing and procedures in accordance with Standing Operating Procedures
- Uses medical data entry system and scheduling system in accordance with HIPPA guidelines
- Maintains and performs quality control on equipment.
- Records maintenance data in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Maintains an orderly and clean clinical and working environment.
Qualifications
Educational / Minimum Requirements: RN with 3-5 years experience, preferred, in performing advanced gastrointestinal procedures.
State/Federal Mandated Licensure or Certification Requirements:
Current State of Connecticut registration as a Registered Nurse
Bristol Hospital Mandated Educational Requirements:
General orientation at time of hire. Fire/Safety/Infection Control annually. Other programs as mandated by the Hospital.
Special Requirements: None
Physical Requirements: Physical agility with repetitive occurrence including but not limited to: walking, bending, stooping, climbing stairs, kneeling, crouching, crawling, balancing, standing, sitting and twisting. Lifting greater than 50 lbs throughout the work day. Looking at computer monitors for up to two hours per day. Vision acuity correctable to normal with normal color perception; hearing acuity correctable to normal; acute sense of smell for normal perception. Ability to converse so that the average person can comprehend.
Work Environment: Regular exposure to patient elements, occasional stress.
Cognitive Requirements: Provides direct care according to the established patient plan for care. Carries out a wide variety of treatments, procedures and examinations requiring professional judgment and initiative. Allowing for reasonable mathematical ability, administers prescribed drugs orally, subcutaneously, intramuscularly, and intravenously, as qualified. Must be able to converse at a high level with physicians, government officials, research experts and colleagues
