Reporting to the Vice President / Chief Financial Officer, the System Director of Supply Chain provides leadership to the Supply Chain Management function through the overall planning, direction and management of the department, its policies and procedures and staff. The System Director is responsible for issuing Requests for Proposal (RFPs), conducting supplier negotiations, developing strategic contracts, optimizing GPO relationships and managing critical supplier relationships. Provide appropriate consultative services via written and verbal communications to all levels of management. The System Director promotes and supports Supply Chain Management's overarching strategy across all Bristol Health entities. This position provides direct supervision of purchasing staff, and the Storeroom Supervisor, Contract Specialist and Perioperative Materials Manager positions.
Essential Job Responsibilities :
Strategic Management
- Develops and implements strategies to ensure the supply of necessary goods and services, and reduce operating costs across all Bristol Health entities.
- Utilizes data analytics to identify enterprise-level opportunities to achieve cost savings, consolidate the supply base or leverage internal capabilities ("make or buy"). Develops business analysis / ROI to obtain executive leadership approval.
- Manages Bristol Health's Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) memberships to optimize cost savings, rebates and administrative fee share.
- Identifies opportunities to leverage GPO suppliers and contracts. Monitors GPO contract compliance and, in partnership with the GPO Relationship Managers, creates improvement plans to address non-compliance.
- Monitors and stays current on market trends and strategies for medical supplies, healthcare supply chain, procurement, and contracting. Communicates opportunities and risks to executive leadership, recommending action plans to mitigate risks.
Identifies and manages cost savings initiatives
Develops strong relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers
Manages the workflow of the Supply Chain teams
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
Educational / Minimum Requirements : Bachelor's Degree required, ideally in Finance, Business Administration or other related field; MBA, MHA or other relevant Master's Degree is preferred.
Ten (10) years of experience in a supply chain / logistics leadership role. Healthcare industry experience is strongly preferred. Advanced Negotiations skills and Contracting experience required.
State / Federal Mandated Licensure or Certification Requirements :
Institute for Supply Management : Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Association for Health Care Resource & Materials Management : Certified Materials & Resource Professional (CMRP) or equivalent required.
Bristol Hospital Mandated Educational Requirements :
General orientation at time of hire. Fire / Safety / Infection Control annually. Other programs as mandated by the health system.
Special Requirements :
Physical Requirements : Position requires ability to occasionally lift light objects. Ability to constantly concentrate on fine detail with interruption and attend to tasks for more than 60 minutes at a time. Individual must be able to understand and relate to theories behind several related concepts and remember multiple tasks given over long periods of time.
Work Environment : Normal office conditions
Cognitive Requirements : Strong critical thinking skills; good communication skills, oral and written.
