Director, SS&P GPS, Capital Services & Solutions, Major Projects Lead
The Director will lead a Procurement team in close collaboration with Global Engineering and respective Site Engineering to develop regional sourcing strategies for multiple Major projects across the network.
Major Projects are defined by their strategic nature and value to the business, typically above a specific threshold. The role is also responsible for developing the methodology to maximize value for BMS through appropriate scope awards, such as Construction Manager and Subcontractors, Architect Engineer, Project Controls, and CQV.
A key factor for success in this position will be the coordination and implementation of all relevant subcategory strategies as part of the Engineering & Construction and Capital Equipment supply plans.
The Director will advance the existing procurement process and enable the team to achieve lowest Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and meet schedule requirements.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Procurement:
- Developsourcing strategies and procurement plans on all aspects of capital projects.
- Ensures sound processes for facilitating project team contract award recommendations and approvals.
- Develops and reviews statements of work.
- Supervises the preparation of competitive bids, quotations, and proposals with relevant specifications, terms, and conditions.
- Collaborates with Category Managers to ensure scope is fit for purpose and cost models are developed and used in the competitive sourcing process.
- Reviews contracts (MSAs, SOWs, LORs) ensuring legal, finance, and business unit approvals are completed.
- Supplier Relationship Management:
- Develops and manages internal and external relationships with suppliers, cross-functional, and/or multi-functional teams regarding the following:
- Manages all contracted suppliers.
- Coordinates evaluations to determine supplier performance using rating systems and/or predetermined standards.
- Schedules and drives meetings with selected suppliers.
- Coordinates, reviews, and responds to supplier inquiries.
- Serves as primary Procurement point of escalation for project issues.
- Sourcing & Technology:
- Implements and maintains required systems, files, archives, and databases of project execution.
- Collaborates with the project team to maximize the value proposition and capture savings on an ongoing basis.
- Management & Organization:
- Develops strategic plans, goals, and objectives in alignment with Business Partners.
- Develops a plan to staff a site procurement team when timing is right to align with the project.
- Ensures category sourcing governance for the project.
Travel: Travel is required to major project locations at critical stages of sourcing and administration.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum education of a B.S. in Engineering or technical field is required.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of work experience, Engineering/Construction related experience preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years procurement experience & five (5) years people management or team leadership experience.
- Procurement process knowledge, category management, contract management, financial analysis, market analysis, supplier analysis, supplier management, technology utilization, and strategic planning.
- Internal stakeholder management, data/information management, process redesign, and continuous improvement expertise.
- Project management and performance measurement skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
- Must have a strong customer service orientation with excellent analytic, interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree is preferred.
- Prior cGMP experience in biopharmaceuticals, pharmaceuticals, and/or medical device industry is highly preferred.
