We are seeking an experienced Structural Steel Fabricator (Fitter) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fitting and welding large structural steel beams and must be proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and shop drawings. This is a hands-on position that plays a key role in the fabrication of heavy structural components for industrial and commercial projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and detailed fabrication drawings
Layout, fit and tack weld large steel components according to specifications
Operate fabrication equipment including overhead cranes, cutting torches, grinders and magnetic drills
Ensure proper fit-up and quality of structural connections
Work closely with welders and other team members to ensure accuracy and timely completion
Follow all shop safety practices and maintain a clean work area
Requirements:
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in structural steel fabrication
Strong ability to read and interpret structural steel blueprints
Proficient in layout, measuring and fitting techniques
Skilled in MIG and Flux-Core Welding (FCAW)
Ability to safely operate overhead cranes and rigging equipment
Basic math and problem solving skills
Reliable transportation and strong work ethics
Preferred Qualifications:
AWS Welding Certification ( not required but a plus)
Familiarity with AISC standards and fabrication tolerances
Experience working on heavy industrial or commercial projects
