What are the responsibilities and job description for the Automotive Shop Utility Technician position at BRITE Truck Maintenance?
We are seeking a reliable Utility Technician to support the daily operations of our automotive repair shop. This role is essential in keeping the shop clean, organized, and running efficiently. Responsibilities include shop maintenance, assisting mechanics, handling deliveries, and ensuring a safe work environment. The ideal candidate is hardworking, detail-oriented, and willing to take on various tasks to support the team.
Key Responsibilities: Shop Maintenance & Cleanliness
- Keep the shop, work areas, and waiting areas clean and organized.
- Dispose of waste materials, used parts, and fluids properly.
- Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are stored correctly and organized.
General Assistance
- Assist mechanics with basic tasks such as retrieving tools, parts, or equipment.
- Transport vehicles within the shop or on property.
- Help with oil disposal or minor repairs under supervision.
- Fuel Sampling at customer locations (training will be provided)
- Basic fuel tank maintenance (training will be provided)
Inventory & Supplies
- Receive, inspect, and store incoming parts and supplies.
- Restock commonly used shop items and report shortages to management.
- Organize and label inventory to maintain an efficient workspace.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and shop safety regulations.
- Keep floors and egresses free of spills, hazards, and debris.
- Assist in maintaining fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and safety equipment.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience: Prior experience in an automotive shop or similar setting preferred but not required.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Basic Microsoft Office skills
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and perform physical labor.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Industrious and passionate to complete tasks and assignments.
- Basic knowledge of automotive tools and procedures is a plus.
- A valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
