What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Gardener II position at Britescape?
Britescape is looking for someone to fill a specialized, new position of Lead Gardener II. We are looking for someone with horticultural passion and knowledge, as well as having a background in hardscape installations (like paver installations). The ideal candidate would be interested in residential gardening for about 70% of the time, with about 30% of time with our Small Projects team, heading up any hardscape installations.
Our typical hardscape project is around 300-400 square feet.

Responsibilities
- Plan, execute and maintain the landscapes of assigned clientele
- Plan, execute and install hardscape projects, as they come in
- Train new and existing staff on best practices and proper technique
- Communicate proactively with Department Manager and clients to ensure high-quality service delivery
- Lead and supervise assigned crew members, ensuring adherence to company standards and values
- Manage all aspects of residential landscape maintenance, including weeding, mulching, mowing, pruning, planting, and irrigation
- Identify and propose enhancement projects to clients as needed
- Ensure safety compliance according to OSHA standards
- Participate in Lead Gardener meetings and weekly team meetings
Qualifications
- Professional landscaping/gardening experience
- Professional hardscape installation experience
- Project management experience
- Willing to pursue one or more of the following: Certified Professional Horticulturist, Horticulture/Botany Degree, Master Pruner Certification
- Strong knowledge of gardening practices and landscape maintenance
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work outdoors in varying terrain and weather conditions
Compensation
The hourly wage for this position is $27-$30 per hour, depending on experience.(Relevant degrees and previous professional gardening will be considered as additional experience)
