Overview
An experienced construction director is sought for a family in Eastern Long Island. The role will report directly to the principals and their chief of staff, and is responsible for providing management and oversight to the physical plant, grounds and ongoing construction projects.
Responsibilities
Responsible for lead oversight of ongoing construction projects with responsibilities including but not limited to:
- General daily oversight of construction
- Liaise with design, architectural and contractor teams to ensure proper execution of principals' vision
- Liaise and source all pertinent vendors to ensure five-star finishes, cutting edge technology and green efficiencies
- Liaise with all engineering teams to ensure proper, efficient builds.
- Provide daily updates to the principals and principals’ chief of staff
- Track progress of all aspects of the project in a project management tool/gantt chart
- Review, approve and process invoices
- Supervising and/or assisting vendors with assigned work
- Relationship management with key vendors associated with the above-mentioned day-to-day facilities and scheduled maintenance services
- Create maintenance manuals/schedule/archive for builds once completed
Qualifications
- Engineering background (ideal)
- Minimum of five to ten years relevant work experience, with design/construction experience required (working on several 10,000s sqfts in multiple locations with multiple aesthetics preferred)
- Ability to work with hardware tools and power equipment
- Detail-orientated with an aptitude for problem-solving
- Self-starter and able to see projects from start to finish
- Adaptable demeanor, able to adjust with little notice
- Hyper attention to detail and efficient communication required
- Strong capabilities with technology hardware and various software packages
- Strong written and oral communication
- Ability to read architectural and engineering documents
- Critical eye and ability to judge levels of finishes
- Strong project management skills
- Excellent client relationship skills
- Experience preparing budgets and a history of delivering projects on time and on budget.
