Job Title: Swim Instructor
Reports to: Aquatics Director
Status: Part-time, hourly
Rate: Starting at $20/hr
Locations: Rancho Pensasquitos, UTC Mall, Kearny Mesa, Escondido. We are looking for instructors for all locations or people who can travel to multiple locations.

Swim Instructors at British Swim School of San Diego teach lessons to children and adults to become safe and happy swimmers, regardless of age or ability. Adherence to British Swim
School teaching curriculum ensures that each student in our program learns water survival skills and then progresses to propulsion and stroke development in a fun and gentle environment.
Roles and Responsibilities
● Report to and communicate directly with business Owner
● Be correctly dressed in British Swim School uniform and prepared poolside at least 15 minutes before the start of your first lesson
● Conduct classes in a fun and gentle environment, following current teaching methods, policies and safety and emergency procedures as detailed in the British
Swim School training manual and as directed by the Aquatics Trainer
● Attend staff meetings and ongoing training/coaching as requested by Aquatics
Trainer or Owner
● Work a flexible schedule that may include holidays and weekends as required by business needs and as requested by management
● Work in an environment where noise levels are usually moderate to high and stand in the water for up to 5 consecutive hours. The role of instructor can also be quite physically demanding so the ability and strength to move kids around in the water and help them out of the water is crucial.
● Other responsibilities as assigned by the Aquatics Trainer/Owner
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
● Enthusiastic, assertive personality with strong relationship and customer service skills
● Effectively communicate with children, customers, parents and employees
● Disciplined to follow schedules and enforce safety procedures as well as follow policies, teaching methods and procedures of British Swim School
● Ability to demonstrate swim strokes appropriately
Qualifications
● Lifeguard, CPR and First Aid - existing qualifications preferred (not required) or interest in obtaining post employment.
● Successful completion of British Swim School Swim Instructor internal training. Approx 30-40 hours of in-person and online training, all training will be paid.
Hours/Needs
● The role will begin as part time with hours as needed/available
● Weekday classes are from 3-7:30/8pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
● Weekend classes from 9am to 1:30pm Saturday and Sunday
●Depending on the day of the week different pools are opened/closed. We don't offer 1/2 shifts so if these times don't work for you it's probably not a fit.
● We will train you on our methods via an online courses and in the water trainings. All training is paid. Approx 40 hours total of training
Once you are trained we will lock in a class schedule (days/hours) for you based on need and your availability.
Locations
● We currently have pools open in 4 different locations, Rancho Penasquitos, UTC Mall, Escondido and Mountain View (just outside of downtown). Most of our instructors work in multiple locations.

● The ability to reliable get to our training facilities will be important. Final work locations and schedules will be based on need and instructors availability
