Position Summary:
The Dean of Student Experience works to promote the general well-being and social, academic, and moral progress of students at Brittany Woods Middle School. The Dean of Student Experience is highly visible and accessible to students, parents, caregivers, and staff throughout the middle school. The Dean of Student Experience promotes a mission-centered student culture. The Dean of Student Experience implements restorative practices and helps to build a climate of integrity, accountability, belonging, and communication between the school and home.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Listens to and responds to student, parent, and faculty concerns related to student life at BWMS
- Works with students, faculty, administrators, parents, and caregivers to create a positive middle school learning community
- Works closely with School Counselors on issues related to discipline and student psychological and social health
- Consistently communicates the school’s expectations pertaining to student success
- Supports the attendance system in the middle school
- Works closely with the students and staff to promote many school-wide programs, events, activities, and traditions
- Consults with the elementary and high schools regarding student transition and supports
- Advises middle school students
- Promotes school spirit
- Facilitates conflict resolution
- Serves as a resource to faculty regarding student management issues
- Assists in the development and implementation of student behavior and support plans
- Communicates with students, parents, and staff in a timely manner regarding student behavior and attendance
- Responsibilities may fall outside of normal school hours including evenings and weekends

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
The qualifications noted below are required to enable the employee to perform the essential duties/responsibilities of this position.
- MO Teacher certification
- Five years of successful teaching experience preferred at the middle school level
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Sufficient vision to read printed material, see distant objects with clarity, and identify and distinguish objects
- Sufficient hearing to hear conversations in person and on the telephone, and hear sounds clearly up to 30 feet
- Ability to speak in an understandable voice with sufficient volume to be heard in normal conversation and on the telephone, and in addressing groups
- Ability to exert up to 25 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
- This position requires standing, walking, sitting, bending and reaching for extended periods of time
- Sufficient manual dexterity and/or mobility to grasp and/or manipulate objects, operate mechanical equipment, and move about the work area
- This position will subject the employee to work environments that have exposure to weather or interiors with extremes of heat and/or cold, wet and/or humid conditions, high noise levels, and various work related hazards
