Position Summary:
Proven mastery of superior instruction in secondary grade introduction to theatre, advanced theatre, directing, improvisation, makeup, costume design, props construction, set design, technical theatre, acting, theatre history, theatre appreciation.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Ability to establish a state/nationally recognized theatre program
- Produce theatrical productions (plays, musicals, one acts, and student produced/directed productions) both during the scheduled day and extra/co-curricular
- Superior knowledge of safety standards and procedures in all theatre practices
- Provide extensive project-based, inquiry-driven, theatre arts instruction based on SDUC Theatre Arts curriculum
- Provide best practice instruction through the use of a wide variety of technologies, educational resources, multimedia, and others
- Prepare course learning targets for instruction and student achievement following district curriculum guidelines
- Assess student achievement and provide timely and appropriate feedback
- Design and deliver learning interventions to assure student success
- Monitor and keep detailed records of student performance and progress
- Inform and provide on-going communication with parents of student progress
- Keep accurate attendance records
- Maintain an orderly classroom with a focus on positive student behavior, discipline, and engagement to ensure maximum learning
- Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops
- Perform related duties such as sponsoring one or more activities of student organizations, assisting pupils in selecting courses of study, and counseling students in adjustment and academic problems, concerns, and issues
- Other duties as assigned

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
The qualifications noted below are required to enable the employee to perform the essential duties/responsibilities of this position.
- Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education from four-year college or university
- Hold a Missouri State Certification in Speech/Theatre/Drama
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Sufficient vision to read printed material, see distant objects with clarity, and identify and distinguish objects
- Sufficient hearing to hear conversations in person and on the telephone, and hear sounds clearly up to 30 feet
- Ability to speak in an understandable voice with sufficient volume to be heard in normal conversation and on the telephone, and in addressing groups
- Ability to exert up to 25 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
- This position requires standing, walking, sitting, bending and reaching for extended periods of time
- Sufficient manual dexterity and/or mobility to grasp and/or manipulate objects, operate mechanical equipment, and move about the work area
- This position will subject the employee to work environments that have exposure to weather or interiors with extremes of heat and/or cold, wet and/or humid conditions, high noise levels, and various work related hazards
