JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Day Program Direct Care Staff

Job Goals: Under the supervision of the Day Program Manager or Day Program Administrator, Direct Care Staff will assist developmentally disabled adults to develop skills leading toward greater independence in all areas of their lives.

Experience: No experience is necessary but it is preferred. Effectively lift clients from wheelchairs to other areas when needed. Lifting is accomplished either by two or three person transfers or with adaptive / assistive technology. Current certificates in First Aid and Community CPR are required or must be obtained.

Work Hours: Work hours are from Monday - Friday 8:00-2:45

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Must be able to pass a Department of Justice and Federal Bureau Investigation back ground check.
• Must possess or obtain current TB test prior to employment.
• Must obtain a written statement of current health status from a physician prior to employment.
• Possess the ability to take direction from supervisory staff.
• Maintain a professional work environment with all staff.
• Demonstrate effective communication skills and good working habits.
• Safeguard consumer confidentiality.
• Assist consumers in completing personal care and following personal care guidelines.
• Meet individual objectives as established by the Day Program Manager or Program Administrator.
• Provide the individualized skill training to meet individual consumers IPP/ISP objectives.
• Provide instruction and supervision to small groups of consumers, both in group and in community activities.
• Maintain safety standards and take all reasonable precaution in order to safeguard the rights and welfare of the consumers.
• Complete concise timely documentation of progress toward IPP/ISP objectives, special incident reports and/or other pertinent information as requested by the Day Program Manager or Program Administrator.
• Implementing program goals and objectives.
• Have knowledge of consumers enrolled in Senior and Custom Endeavors Options (CEO) program and follow all regulations.
• Attending staff meeting.
