AT A GLANCE:
The Director of Financial Planning & Analysis reports directly to the Executive Vice President, Finance and is part of the Finance Department. This position will have contact with senior-level management which requires strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal.
The Director of Financial Planning & Analysis is also responsible for all Inventory/Cost Accounting requirements for the company. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including participating in the monthly closing process.
DAY IN THE LIFE AS THIS MEMORY MAKER:
- Preparation of the annual budget.
- Preparation of monthly running and/or rolling forecasts.
- Analytic reporting of spending and headcount.
- Pressure test assumptions, Benchmark KPI’s against Industry.
- Identify risks and opportunities, quantifying financial impacts and likelihood.
- Perform best and worst-case analyses.
- Gain expertise in our Planful EPM (Enterprise Performance Management) system.
- Responsible for overseeing staff monthly journal entries reflecting activities and assessments of accounts.
- Supervise a staff of professional accountants and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner.
- All-encompassing responsibility on inventory reporting/analysis, managing applied freight rates, inventory costing, and inventory reserves.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
- BA/BS in Business with major in Accounting, higher degree or certification desirable.
- Considerable experience in career. Experience working in retail or distribution a plus.
- Must be Microsoft Office proficient. Must have strong experience with ERP and other business systems.
- Requires strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Requires strong interpersonal and supervisory skills required.
- Must have the ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required.
WORKPLACE ENVIRONMENT:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to work independently, as well as, in a collaborative team environment within an office setting
