Broad River Retail d/b/a Ashley, one of the Carolinas and Georgia’s fastest growing licensees of Ashley is looking for an energetic and passionate individual, who is looking to grow their career to fill an exciting new role as we continue to grow our People Team.
As the Human Resources Intern (the People Intern), you will come onboard to a 10-month rotational development program where you will learn each function of the People lifecycle at Broad River Retail. You will spend time learning the processes and understanding the functions of the following departments: Total Rewards (to include Payroll, Benefits and Compensations), Onboarding & Offboarding, Employee Relations, Safety & Compliance, and HRIS.
This internship is designed to be both educational and practical. In this position, you will learn how to take skills acquired in school and apply them in a professional setting. You will gain a better understanding of the role that People can play in supporting a thriving retail-based company. Upon completion of our program, you will be prepared for a full-time role on our People Team.
DAY IN THE LIFE AS THIS MEMORY MAKER
- Work across multiple functions of the People Team throughout your rotational program.
- Collaborate on our ongoing focus around candidate and employee experience.
- Demonstrate a high degree of collaboration with various department partners and stakeholders.
- Assist in the preparation and execution of programs that benefit diverse employee populations.
- Use good judgement when related to handling confidential information.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED
- Working toward a degree in Human Resources, Business, Communications, or related field.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated, ambitious, problem solver, who is flexible and adaptive to change.
- Must be highly organized, able to work in a fast-paced team environment.
- Strong computer skills including advance knowledge of PowerPoint & Excel.
- High degree of attention to detail and able to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
WORKPLACE ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job the employee is:
- Ability to perform repetitive bending, lifting, and squatting.
- Ability to stand/walk for long periods of time.
- Able to drive to travel to company locations as necessary.
- Be able to routinely lift 15 lbs. alone, or team lift heavier pieces.
- This is a hybrid position and would require 3 in-office days per week.
