AT A GLANCE:
As part of the Broad River Retail’s People Department, the Specialist, People will support the Payroll, HRIS, and People Analytics’ functions. This role will verify accurate pay administration with integrity and compliance with all applicable laws and policies. In addition, the incumbent will assist in assigned payroll, retail commission & bonuses, and HRIS related initiatives. Overall, this position will serve as a back-up to our Payroll, Commission and Bonuses for Retail Performance, and HRIS functions.
DAY IN THE LIFE AS THIS MEMORY MAKER:
- Serve as secondary contact for employee questions related to HRIS/Onboarding and Payroll including daily management of assigned e-mail inboxes.
- Calculates and processes monthly performance bonuses for Retail Performance as directed by the Payroll and Analytics Senior Analyst.
- Research complex discrepancies in payroll and takes accurate corrective action to achieve compliance and accuracy as instructed by the Payroll & Compensation Manager.
- Responsible for entering new hire record into HR database and complete E-Verify process, and I-9 process when applicable.
- Maintain accurate record for employee related onboarding communications.
- Respond to employees’ onboarding inquiries regarding all employment-related policies and benefits at the guidance of the HRIS Analyst.
- Be the liaison between our temporary workers and management during conversion to full time employment.
- Acts as a backup to processing weekly hourly, bi-weekly hourly, semi-monthly salary, and weekly contractor payroll cycles.
- Interprets payroll policy and procedures for managers, supervisors and employees to resolve payroll issues in their area of responsibility.
- Assists with the execution of year-end payroll tasks.
- Update HRIS and Payroll tracking systems with updated case and time details.
- All duties assign for the support of the Total Rewards and HRIS/Onboarding team.
WORKPLACE ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Physical requirements such as extended periods of sitting and computer use may be required.
- Hybrid work schedule with at least 3 days in the office per week.

Qualifications
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Proficiency with administration software such as Paycom
- In-depth and up-to-date knowledge of relevant Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations
- Must have a sense of urgency in solving requests to ensure timely resolution and ability to work effectively under pressure
- Demonstrates a high degree of confidentiality and sensitivity to compliance related matters
- Ability to balance the demands of projects, maintenance and support, and internal customer expectations in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction
- Must be self-motivated with the capability to think and act independently
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
