GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The Executive Director is responsible for the management, direction, and coordination of all clinic operations and related activities for the purpose of attaining the goals and objectives as set forth by the Board of Directors. The Executive Director will conduct the affairs of Broad Street Clinic Foundation within the limits of his/her authority as set forth by this job description and the policies and directives established by the Board of Directors.
Essential Functions
Strategic Management
- Serves on the governing board and develops and implements the clinic's mission and strategic plan.
- Leads the development, planning, and execution of the clinic’s business plans in alignment with the strategic plan.
- Recommends, develops, implements, and updates long- and short-range plans to support the clinic's philosophy and goals.
- Informs the board about current trends, challenges, and medical activities to facilitate effective policymaking.
- Applies for Grants and keeps grant reporting up to date.
Board of Directors Relationships
- Participates in and coordinates the selection and training of new board members.
- Works with the board to ensure medical and dental providers are appropriate and competent.
- Acts as the liaison and primary channel of communication between the board, committees, and the clinic’s medical and administrative staff.
Clinical Management
- Oversees and monitors medical and dental program activities to ensure the community’s need for quality health care is met.
- Establishes, secures approval for, and oversees clinic operating policies and procedures.
- Manages the efforts of medical and dental staff in the recruitment, development, and performance evaluation of employees.
- Maintains a positive work environment.
- Ensures volunteers are recognized and supported.
Financial Management
- Supervises the business and financial affairs of the clinic, including accounting, budgeting, internal controls, and timely reporting.
- Monitors the use of credit cards and Square methods for donations and purchases.
- Enhances operational effectiveness by emphasizing cost containment without compromising innovation or quality of care.
- Continuously monitors operations, programs, and physical properties, initiating appropriate changes as necessary.
Human Resources Management
- Resolves medical-administrative challenges effectively.
- Maintains open communication with staff to foster a professional and positive work environment.
- Focuses on creating a culture that values high-quality care and employee satisfaction.
- Delegates authority and responsibility effectively to team members and works on improving management techniques and practices.
Community Involvement
- Promotes clinic integration within the community through effective communication.

- Manages all grants, seeks new opportunities, prepares grant applications, and ensures compliance with grant reporting requirements.
- Represents the clinic in relationships with health organizations, government agencies, and third-party payers.

Education Requirements
- Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Health Administration, Business Administration, or equivalent.
- Preferred: Master’s degree in a related field.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of five years of executive-level experience, including administration of a major clinic or similar setting.
