Supervisor, Imaging Services
Under the general supervision of the Radiologist and the Department Manager performs the duties of supervising clinical staff. The Supervisor plans, directs and coordinates the clinical support activities of Imaging Services departments. Performs a variety of radiologic routines and related duties within the limits of their scope of practice.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Plans and directs personnel within the department; and ensures staff are actively engaged in work on a consistent basis. Involved in interviewing and hiring process for new hires. Ensures all department competencies and staff training is completed within required timelines. Enters and completes KRONOS time attendance on a timely basis. Schedules employees on a computerized scheduling system maintaining adequate staffing for the department. Develops and recommends policies and procedures related to clinical practice. Investigates and resolves patient and staff complaints within the unit. Monitors activities for quality of procedures and performance of staff, making sure staff are using ALARA. Assists in monitoring audits to ensure Quality Assurance within the department. Maintains a clean and safe environment. Orders supplies and maintains adequate inventory of supplies within the department. Maintains records of valid licensure and certifications of clinical staff. Develops and implements quality assessment plans in compliance with all regulatory agencies (TJC, ACR, OSHA). Completes any statistical reporting as assigned. Positions and handles patient to assure that patient is in optimal position for radiograph as directed by physician order. Prepares and maintains routine department records and special reports. Assists in budget preparation for the department. Properly maintains equipment records for inspections such as physicist testing, PM’s and service reports. Performs general, portable, fluoroscopic and operating room radiographic procedures when needed. Identifies Age Specific needs of patient and complies with same. Ensures department equipment is maintained and in good working condition. Able to add on and schedule procedures with open communications to staff involved including proper authorizations Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence consistent with hospital-wide unit-specific standards. Completes all annual hospital-wide mandatory training within defined timeframe (i.e. safety, annual in-services) Demonstrates competence in specified computer applications (EMR, PAC’s, Microsoft Teams, Aspen Lung, Office). Maintains cooperative, pleasant communication with all individuals. Assists in the development of and participates in Performance Improvement activities. Facilitates Imaging Services meetings and projects to develop strategies for quality improvement. Tracks staffing to ensure economical utilization of supplies, time and resources. Makes and oversees staff assignments and demonstrates clear expectations of accountability. Completes all personnel supervisory responsibilities in a timely manner, including but not limited to evaluations, licensing/certification reports, trainings and Kronos review. Develops and maintains positive working relationships with all staff and physicians throughout the organization.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology. Certification by the A.R.R.T. or A.R.D.M.S Valid Iowa permit to practice. At least one year of leadership experience. At least three years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist in a hospital setting. Consistently demonstrates a team approach to care. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience with Microsoft Office, PAC’s and EMR programs.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Two-plus year supervisory experience. Associates of Applied Sciences degree or above with Bachelors or Masters Additional Certifications such as CT, MRI, NM, PET, Bone Density, Ultrasound, IR or Mammography Bilingual.
