TECH CNA Summer Apprenticeship
Next Program begins June 5, 2025 with Graduation on July 28, 2025.
Participants in the TECH program are identified as incoming High School Juniors, Seniors, and current year Graduated Seniors from Polk County Schools.
In partnership with Central Iowa HealthWorks, DMACC, Iowa Workforce Development, and Urban Dreams, Broadlawns Medical Center is proud to offer paid apprenticeship opportunities for individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in healthcare. The TECH (Training and Educating for a Career in Healthcare) program introduces participants to Broadlawns’ work culture, career paths. Interns receive college credits by completing the Basic and Advanced Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training through DMACC.
Schedule
- 8 Week Course (June 5 - July 28)
- Generally Mon - Fri, day shift
- Attendance at each class is required for program completion, missed days will result in termination from the program
- Following program completion, graduates may transition into Health Care Tech employment at Broadlawns Medical Center

Apprenticeship Selection
- Participants in the TECH program are identified as incoming high school Juniors, Seniors, and graduated Seniors from Polk County Schools.
- With a focus on the Broadlawns neighboring community, the majority of participants will be selected from 50314 and 50316 zip codes.
- These zip codes represent the areas within Des Moines that have the highest poverty and unemployment levels.
- Program Coordinator will contact candidates directly for interviews and selection process.
