What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grounds Manager position at Broadmead, Inc?
Under the supervision on the Vice President of Facility Services , incumbent is responsible for ensuring the seasonal cleaning, maintenance and upkeep of the community grounds, walkways, driveways, parking lots and storm drains covering approximately 136 acres in total.
Education and Experience:
- Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA and MOSHA safety standards
- Comprehensive knowledge of care maintenance, and upkeep of grounds including shrubbery, lawns, trees, ground cover plantings, etc.
- Comprehensive knowledge of plant material identification
- Comprehensive knowledge of diagnosis of disease and pests and treatments of nursery stock
- Comprehensive knowledge of selection and application of insecticides, pesticides, fungicides, fertilizers and seeds
- General knowledge of inventory and ordering supplies and budget practices
- Comprehensive knowledge of personnel and supervisory practices
- Comprehensive knowledge of equipment and vehicle repair and maintenance
- Requires the ability to maintain good relations with residents, residents’ families, staff and suppliers
- Requires a minimum of a Degree in Horticulture with at least five years experience in the field and general mathematical knowledge
- Requires a valid driver’s license and a good driving record
Accountabilities:
- Ensures, through the use of staff and contracted services, that all the grounds and exterior facilities of Broadmead are maintained, attractive, environmentally safe conditions which contribute to the overall sense of beauty and comfort of the community
- Monitors all the routine care, maintenance, and repair of equipment and vehicles which ensure maximum use and life of these items
- Ensure grounds department is well organized and knows responsibilities
- Responsible for coordinating snow removal events.
- Accountable for ensuring the grounds contracted services are upheld according to the contract.
