Job Title: Mainframe QA Tester
Location: Austin, TX (Onsite)
We are seeking a skilled Mainframe QA Tester to join our team in Austin, TX. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in mainframe testing, automation, and quality assurance methodologies.
This role requires hands-on testing expertise with IBM Mainframes, COBOL, JCL, DB2, and CICS, ensuring the quality and reliability of applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts for mainframe applications.
- Perform functional, integration, regression, and system testing on mainframe environments.
- Work closely with developers, business analysts, and other QA team members to understand requirements and create effective test strategies.
- Utilize tools like IBM Mainframe, JCL, TSO/ISPF, DB2, CICS, and MQ for testing.
- Validate batch jobs, online transactions, and backend database processing.
- Develop and execute automation scripts to improve efficiency in mainframe testing.
- Identify, report, and track defects using test management and defect tracking tools.
- Provide root cause analysis for issues and collaborate with development teams for resolution.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, best practices, and security guidelines.

Required Skills and Experience:
- 5 years of experience in Mainframe Testing with a strong understanding of IBM Mainframe systems.
- Proficiency in COBOL, JCL, DB2, TSO/ISPF, CICS, and VSAM.
- Hands-on experience with test automation tools for mainframe applications.
- Familiarity with defect tracking tools such as JIRA, HP ALM, or similar.
- Experience with batch job testing and online transaction processing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Knowledge of Agile and Waterfall testing methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with performance testing on mainframe applications.
- Exposure to automation tools such as Selenium, REXX, or Worksoft Certify.
- Prior experience in banking, financial services, or government sectors is a plus.
