We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinarian to join our team for relief work during our regular veterinarians maternity leave. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal care and welfare, with the ability to provide high-quality medical treatment to a variety of animal species. This role involves diagnosing and treating illnesses, performing soft tissue surgeries, and educating pet owners on proper care practices. The Veterinarian will work in a collaborative environment, ensuring the health and well-being of animals while also supporting the veterinary staff.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough examinations of animals to assess their health status.
- Diagnose and treat various medical conditions and injuries in companion pets.
- Perform surgical procedures as needed, ensuring aseptic technique is maintained.
- Administer vaccinations and medications as prescribed.
- Provide emergency veterinary care and critical care management when necessary.
- Educate pet owners on proper animal husbandry, nutrition, and preventive health care practices.
- Maintain accurate medical records for all patients treated in accordance with legal requirements.
- Collaborate with veterinary technicians and support staff to ensure optimal patient care.
Skills
The successful candidate will possess the following skills:
- Proficient in dog/cat handling techniques and animal restraint methods.
- Experience with exotic medicine is preferred but not mandatory.
- Knowledge of veterinary critical care protocols and procedures.
- Strong background in general veterinary practice, including diagnostics and treatment plans.
- Excellent animal handling skills across various species, ensuring their comfort and safety during examinations or treatments.
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures related to diagnostics (e.g., blood tests, urinalysis).
- Understanding of aseptic technique to prevent infection during surgical procedures.
- Strong communication skills to effectively educate pet owners about their pets' health needs.
