Job description

Broadmoor Outfitters Guide

Title: Outdoor Guide

You deliver unparalleled hospitality and experiences as an outdoor guide, ensuring our guests receive world-class adventures.

Who are the Broadmoor Outfitters?

Founded in the early 90s, Broadmoor Outfitters has grown from a modest family operation to a premier provider of outdoor experiences. With a commitment to excellence and safety, our experienced guides have shaped our identity, offering diverse activities for all levels of adventurers. Over the years, we've embraced hospitality with outdoor adventure, creating lasting memories through hikes, bike tours, team-building retreats, and many other outdoor activities.

At the heart of our team is an unwavering commitment to excellence. We don't just work; we thrive because the outdoors is more than a workplace—it's our passion. Fun and safety go hand in hand for us, and with an intimate knowledge of Colorado Springs, we turn every experience into an unforgettable adventure.

Our mission is clear: to provide our guests with the absolute best, made possible by fostering the best opportunities for our team. We're dedicated to cultivating our team into genuine outdoor professionals, ensuring success in every aspect of their journey. Our guiding principles—safety, unparalleled hospitality, leadership, and growth—are the cornerstones of an extraordinary work environment in which we take pride.

As the company continues to expand, our team propels this growth forward. Join us in this dynamic environment where we don't just follow the path; we create it.

What is the Interview Process?

You can expect a unique and in-depth interview process. Over 3-4 weeks, you will complete three interviews. The first two interviews are conducted remotely with our leadership team. The third interview will be with our Senior Guides and Guide Instructors. During the third interview, you must teach a topic of your choice and receive feedback from our Senior Guides and Guide Instructors. Ultimately, our guides make the decision. Suppose you are looking for a job in a hurry. This might not be a good fit for you. We take great pride in the team and the community we have created and have found this to be the best process.

What is training like?

We do a two-week training process followed by a week of shadowing our Senior Guides and Guide Instructors. There are three days of unpaid training. This is during your Wilderness First-Aid and CPR training, which is free of charge. This course is valued between $350 and $400 if you were to take it on your own. The other training days include learning basic bike mechanic skills, leadership training, client care, guiding E-bike tours, facilitating the Wild West Experience, guided hiking, team building events, driver training, and overall orientation of the Broadmoor Outfitters and Broadmoor Hotel. Training days are from 9:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Trainees can expect to be outside all day and must come prepared for variable weather conditions. After training and shadowing, trainees must complete a “check ride” to guide tours independently. Training can be strenuous. We encourage all trainees to be relatively physically fit. Trainees must be available for all training.
