Position Overview:
This role is responsible for independently developing and managing a portfolio of banking relationships with developers, builders, real estate investors, and business owners in the commercial and residential real estate industries. Leveraging strong credit and underwriting expertise, this role positions appropriate bank products within client relationships, with a primary focus on commercial real estate lending opportunities. Responsibilities include making presentations to the Senior Officers' Loan Committee and Directors' Loan Review Committee regarding the creditworthiness of loan applications.
Essential Functions:
- Develops and services new construction and commercial permanent loans, including complex transactions.
- Actively participates in business development endeavors with potential and existing customers to generate new business and retain existing business.
- Interviews applicants to gather financial and credit information, ascertain needs and abilities, and evaluate bank risk. Requests necessary financial and operating statements.
- Ensures the comprehensive development and analysis of all financial data and monitors accounts.
- Evaluates credit and terms in accordance with policy.
- Prepares and presents recommendations to committees for lending approval.

Assumes responsibility for proper documentation and review of accounts.
Inspects properties under construction. - Services existing loans, including approval of draw requests on loans.
- Maintains ownership of the customer experience in alignment with the bank's mission, vision, and values.
- Monitors loans to ensure complete conformity with terms and awareness of developing trends.
- Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements for loans.
- Keeps abreast of changing business and economic developments impacting the loan portfolio and its profitability.
- Represents the bank through active community and professional involvement.
- Registers and maintains registry as a Mortgage Loan Officer (MLO) with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) and Registry, in accordance with the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (the S.A.F.E. Act).
- Assumes additional duties and responsibilities as requested.
- This position may require travel within the Bank’s geographic area.
Experience & Education:
- Minimum of 12 years in Construction/Residential and Commercial Real Estate lending, including business development calls.
- Demonstrated credit analysis/underwriting experience on complex CRE transactions.
- Formal Sales Training and credit training preferred.
- B.S. or B.A. degree required; MBA preferred.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
- Experience with bank core systems.
- In-depth understanding of commercial real estate lending and market trends.
- Excellent analytical and financial analysis skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Effective negotiation and business development skills.
- High attention to detail and organizational skills.
- CCIM designation preferred.
Other Qualifications:
- Must meet and maintain eligibility as a Mortgage Loan Officer (MLO) with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) and Registry, in accordance with the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (the S.A.F.E. Act).
- Must meet and maintain financial responsibility, character, and general fitness standards, along with all other established requirements for an individual Loan Originator (LO) in accordance with Regulation Z.
- Requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull weights or otherwise move objects weighing as much as 10 lbs. on a regular basis and/or for extended periods of time during the workday.
