What are the responsibilities and job description for the Volunteer: Soup Kitchen Volunteer position at Broadway Community, Inc.?
We are on the front lines of New York City's homelessness, hunger, and mental health crises. Operating a broad range of programs including shelter, emergency food, on-site medical services, showers, case management, supportive counseling, employment assistance, housing navigation, and more, we help hundreds of people a week meet their basic needs and access the resources they need to improve their life circumstances.
Since March of 2020, our soup kitchen has distributed over 200,000 meals, our food pantry has distributed over 250,000 pounds of food, our shelter has provided over 20,000 nights of rest, and we’ve helped connect countless people to employment, permanent housing, and stable ground upon which they can rebuild their lives.
If you're looking for a place where your time and dollars will truly make an impact and improve lives, Broadway Community is where the rubber meets the road. Supporting our work is an investment that will directly pay dividends in the form of reducing hunger, providing shelter, and giving people the resources they need to get back on their feet.
,
We are in need of help at our soup kitchen on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9 00am to 3 00pm. During this time, volunteers help prepare meals, wait tables, wash dishes, and socialize with our Guests. We serve 250 people on each of these days and our volunteers are a critical reason why!
