Medical Billing Specialist

Locally owned Home Medical Equipment company has an immediate opening for a quality assurance specialist to join our growing organization. Previous experience in healthcare billing is highly preferred but we would be willing to train the right individual. Hours for this position will be a set schedule Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm. There will be a rotating Saturday from 8:30 am - 5:00 pm. Saturday rotations are currently 1 out of every 4.

Job duties will include but not be limited to:

• Confirm new orders and pre-audit for potential billing errors.
• Process and post payments in our billing software from insurance companies and patients.
• Working various reports to release held AR.
• Communicate with our billing department to correct errors in claims
• Review reports to identify trends in denials and non-payments.
• Answer billing calls and assist with walk in billing questions.
• Identify billing discrepancies and work closely with the billing department to resolve; including calling insurance companies to obtain denial reasons and appeal denied claims.

Ideal candidates will possess the following traits:

• Strong computer skills, knowledge of Windows based computer systems
• Organizational and planning abilities with a keen eye for detail
• Previous experience in healthcare and/or experience in healthcare billing
• Excellent time management skills
• Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Must be able to review reports with clarity and brevity. Must be action-oriented and customer focused and skilled in decision making, building relationships, problem identification/solving and conflict management.
• Ability to keep composure and remain calm under pressure.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
