Position Title: Part-Time or Full-Time Pharmacy Technician

Department: Pharmacy

Reports to: Pharmacist and Compounding Pharmacist

Salary Classification: Non-Exempt

Schedule for this position is Monday-Friday 9:00am - 6:00pm

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Experience:

  • Provide exceptional service to patients and caregivers, maintaining a professional demeanor while collecting and processing prescription information.
  • Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive experience.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers.

Pharmacy Operations:

  • Assist the pharmacist with daily operations in compliance with state, federal, and company regulations.
  • Use pharmacy systems to enter and verify patient and prescription information.
  • Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, pouring, and verifying medications.
  • Assist pharmacists with managing workflow and scheduling tasks.
  • Strictly adhere to Good Faith Dispensing policies and company standards during prescription dispensing activities.
  • Register sales at the pharmacy cash register and handle cash transactions.
  • Assist customers with locating OTC products when needed.
  • Handle phone calls that do not require the personal attention of the pharmacist, including calls to physicians and prescribers.

Inventory Management:

  • Assist with ordering, unpacking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy by managing returns, filing claims for discrepancies, and addressing order errors.
  • Ensure the pharmacy is well-stocked, clean, neat, and organized.
  • Assist with tracking and protecting pharmacy assets.

Prescription and Claims Processing:

  • Process manual claims for third-party prescription services promptly and accurately.
  • Correct and resubmit claims when necessary, ensuring timely payment.
  • Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist and follow company procedures for handling such errors.

Clinical Support and community Outreach:

  • Assist the pharmacist with clinical services, including Immunization.
  • Support the coordination of clinical services with external providers, such as local clinics and healthcare organization
  • Help the pharmacy team maintain relationships with local healthcare providers, such as physicians, nurses, and retirement or nursing homes, to support community health efforts.

Additional Duties:

  • Perform other clerical tasks as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager or PIC.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and maintain respectful relationships with colleagues.

Training & Development:

  • Obtain and maintain CPR and Immunization certification through the company's designated training program.
  • Participate in training sessions and fulfill all required company learning modules.
  • Keep current with healthcare and pharmacy advancements by earning continuing education credits.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience in both Pharmacy Compounding and Retail Pharmacy is highly preferred.
  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Proficient in using computers and various software programs relevant to the position.
  • Consistently maintains regular, punctual attendance at the assigned workplace.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Capable of negotiating, problem-solving, and delivering excellent customer service to all patients and caregivers.
  • Must be familiar with operating computers and related equipment, including telephone systems, printers, copiers, fax machines, label makers, and specialized medication packaging tools.

Education & Licenses:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must hold a current, unrestricted Oregon Pharmacy Technician License.
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Basic skills in reading, writing, and arithmetic are required.

Physical Demands:

  • Standing for prolonged periods of time.
  • Walking to accomplish tasks, particularly when moving between different work areas.
  • Engaging in tasks that primarily involve fine motor skills, such as typing or handling small objects.
  • Reaching with hands and arms in various directions.
  • Bending at the waist to lean forward or downward.
  • Stooping significantly, requiring full use of the lower body and back muscles.
  • Communicating ideas clearly through spoken word, where accurate delivery of detailed or important instructions is essential.
  • Hearing at normal speaking levels, with or without correction, and the ability to receive and process detailed information through verbal communication.

Visual Acuity:

  • Close visual acuity is required for tasks like transcribing, working on a computer, reading, and inspecting small parts.

Lifting Requirements:

  • Occasionally lifting to 30 lbs, exerting up to 30 lbs of force occasionally, up to 10 lbs frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

The compensation offered for this position will be based on several factors, including location, skills, qualifications, education, experience, and other relevant considerations. This position will remain open until a suitable candidate is hired.

Pay: $17.00 - $24.35 per hour
