What are the responsibilities and job description for the Moderate Special Needs Teacher: BVLA position at Brockton Public Schools?
The Brockton Public schools is currently hiring Moderate Special Needs (MSN) teachers at the BVLA.Moderate Special Needs teachers are special education teachers who provide specialized instruction in all academic areas specific to each student's Individualized Education Plan. This job requires knowledge of Special Education testing and report writing, communicating with parents at team meetings, knowledge of data collection and progress monitoring, writing progress reports, consultation with general education teachers, and providing specialized instruction. Qualifications: 1.Educator license in appropriate content area.2.Three or more years successful teaching preferred.3.Proficiency using video conferencing tools.4.Proficiency in Microsoft 365.5.Strong organizational and excellent oral and written communication skills.6.Ability and experience using formative data to inform subsequent lesson planning.7.Experience teaching in virtual environment is highly desirable.8.Ability to troubleshoot technology issues for self and students.Responsibilities: 1.Deliver synchronous lessons daily. These lessons may be for up to four different grades/preps.
Elementary will be structured as one 2/3 grade class and one 4/5 grade class.2.Lesson planning and delivery of lessons utilizing Teams and Aristotle Borderless Classroom.3.Collaborate with BVLA colleagues to develop lessons that meet the needs of a diverse population of students.4.Support students in developing efficient and effective ways of learning and studying in a virtual setting.5.Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals, establishing clear objectives for all units and lessons and effectively communicating these objectives to students.6.Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve an environment conducive to virtual learning.7.Build and maintain a positive, collaborative classroom and school culture.8.Support students in their online learning and social-emotional learning during daily Advisory meetings.9.Communicate regularly with parents through conferences, phone calls, email and the Teams platform to discuss students progress as well as concerns (if any) and explain the school program.10.Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the school department and/or self-selected professional growth activities that will include courses or activities related to instruction and virtual learning.11.Administration of all required district and state assessments (unit tests, DIBELS, Star, MCAS, WIDA ACCESS, etc.).12.Perform other duties as assigned by the Coordinator for Innovative Learning and Technology BVLA and the Edison Day/Evening Academy and Principal of the BVLA.13.All other responsibilities that are listed in the collective bargaining agreement between the Brockton Education Association and the Brockton School Committee.Compensation: According to Contract.Workday: 7 hours and 12 minutes for all classroom teachers from 7:50 a.m. 3:02 p.m.
