Qualifications:
License in Moderate Disabilities 5 - 12
Experience in providing structured, phonics-based instruction to individual and small groups.
Experience formally and informally assessing student reading skills.
Wilson Reading Trained
Wilson Reading Certified Preferred
The special education reading teacher will work with high school students with specific learning disabilities in reading. They will be a part of the Language Based Learning program. They will be responsible for teaching small group classes using the Wilson Reading system. The ideal candidate should posses three to four years of experience teaching reading and a strong understanding of how to assess and implement phonics-based reading instruction. In addition, they will provide academic support to students in a small group setting outside of the general education classrooms. The reading teacher will be expected to manage a caseload of students, prepare IEP goals, complete progress reports, complete informal and formal assessments, work collaboratively with other team members and attend IEP meetings.
This position is based at Brockton High School and one class at Brockton Therapeutic Day School.
