SUBJECT: Staff needed for our Social Emotional Learning/SEL Summer Institute.
1 Site Supervisor (Admin/SAC/Teacher license preferred)
4 BEA positions (SAC/Teacher license preferred)
4 Non-BEA positions (Para/Mentor/Interventionist preferred)
4 BHS rising 12th graders (1 per house preferred)
The SEL Institute will develop and strengthen the social and emotional well-being of up to 80 rising 9th graders whose responses on the SEL Student Screener indicate a concern in both Internalized Behavior (feelings of sadness/ loneliness/isolation) and Stress Level. The Institute will create a sense of belonging by establishing community. The student’s schedule will be infused with SEL throughout all areas of written expression, art expression, mindfulness, meditation, yoga and other healthy physical activities. Students will be paired with high school rising seniors as peer mentors.
There will be a required paid training session of up to 3 hrs. prior to the start of summer programming.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Prior work with SEL summer programming preferred.
2. Must commit to work the entire program, or job share.
3. Attend required training.
4. Ability to assist in program as needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Implement Social and Emotional Learning within all daily activities.
2. Identify weekly SEL themes.
3. Introduce journaling, art expression, coping strategies and other wellness related activities.
3. Effectively communicate and coordinate with Director of SEL, BPS staff and families.
4. Monitor student participation and skill development.
5. Collect student and program SEL data.
6. Utilize an upbeat, friendly approach to building belonging alliances
7. Develop positive relationships and foster a safe and supported environment
COMPENSATION: Contractual Hourly Rate for existing union employees, rate of pay commensurate with letter of agreement for non-
union employees.
All positions are contingent upon program enrollment.
SCHEDULE: Begin Tuesday, July 1st and ends Thursday, July 31st. Closed July 3rd and 4th in observance of the holiday. Staff will work 6hrs daily, Monday through Friday, 8:30am-2:30pm. Job sharing is permitted.
