Subject: Specialist Teachers (4) for The Elementary April Vacation Math Acceleration Academy
An Acceleration Academy is a week-long academic program designed to accelerate student learning through engaging, standards-aligned lessons that meet the specific academic needs of students participating in the program. Students who attend an Academy receive the equivalent of approximately one extra month of learning in one week. The Brockton Public Schools has received a MA DESE grant to support an Acceleration Academy focused on math for students in grades 3-5. As part of this program, students will be scheduled for one specialist period per day. Class sizes for specialist classes will be no more than 20 students. Specialist teachers will also provide additional supervision during the lunch period.
Qualifications:
•MA DESE Licensed teacher
•Deep understanding of relevant MA DESE curriculum framework
•Experience teaching elementary students (preferred)
Responsibilities:
•Provide specialist (PE, Music, Art, or Engineering Design) instruction to groups of no more than 20 students during April break
(Tuesday-Friday); at least 1-hour of planning will be provided each day
•Assist in the supervision of students during their 20-minute lunch period
•Other duties as assigned by the Program Director
Program Dates and Times: During Program: April 22- April 25 8:00 AM- 2:00 PM
Compensation: Program- 24 hours total at the contractual per hour rate.
