REPORTS TO : VICE PRESIDENT – CLINICAL SERVICES
POSITION SUMMARY :
The Quality Assurance and Education Director (QAED) is responsible for the continuing improvement of clinical operations and education for all BVNA clinical staff. The QAED directs all coding and processes for medical records activities. The QAED manages and directs the Coding and Medical Records teams and directs the Value-based purchasing and STAR programs. Adheres to all BVNA policies including but not limited to the Confidentiality Agreement, Personnel Policies, Clinical Policies and Procedures, HIPAA Privacy / Security and WISP. Adopts the Lean Healthcare philosophy to implement the Lean tools and Lean Management.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Reviews, updates and educates staff on policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Establishes and maintains Risk Management Program inclusive of Infection Control, Client Concerns and Patient Occurrences. Meets quarterly to analyze the data and to determine if educational programs need to be put into place.
- Creates patient satisfaction and quality outcome dashboards and reports for internal use.
- Prepares and transmits all Hospice’s HIS records on a weekly basis.
- Researches clinical programs and trends.
- Manages Clinical Coders who review : Start of Care, Resumption of Care, Recertification, Discharge OASIS and Transfer OASIS.
- Responsible for ADR / appeals processes and responds to Medicare medical review requests.
- Monitors CASPER Reports, Home Health Compare, HH-CAHPS, and SHP for benchmarking scores.
- Monitors clinical staff in the accurate completion of the OASIS and supportive documentation at all time points, through the Coding staff.
- Develops orientation plans for new staff with input of supervising managers in a collaborative manner with goal of developing a competent, but not yet proficient, staff members.
- Responsible for creating and developing, coordinating and scheduling trainings for BVNA employees to include, but are not limited to community health, case management, interviewing / assessment, disease process, treatment, medication, infection control, documentation skills, EMR competency, etc.
