Who We’re Looking for:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, or related field (required)
- Knowledge of Arizona and applicable federal laws (preferred)
- Knowledge of Incident Command System and security surveillance systems
- Minimum of 3 years Professional experience in law enforcement, personnel safety and leadership
- Knowledge in the area of Emergency Response Management, Emergency management technology and best practices and coordination with local agencies
- Ability to effectively communicate ideas and information in written and oral format to staff, colleagues, district leadership, and the governing board.

Ensuring the safety of all of our students and staff is our top priority. The Director of Safety and Security assists the Superintendent/CEO or designee in leveraging building leadership to ensure all district processes and procedures comply with Governing Board policies, state and federal law.
We’re looking for someone who takes initiative, driven to get things done, proactive, highly motivated, visionary and has a positive response to pressure. The Director of Safety and Security works under the direction of the Superintendent/CEO or designee and provides oversight of all school and district safety programs including Emergency Preparedness, Crisis Management, Policy Development, Training and Education, Collaboration with Law enforcement agencies, and Community Engagement.
The Director of Safety Security role is essential in creating a secure and supportive school environment where students can learn and thrive. Responsibilities & Deliverables:
- Strategically develops and maintains the District’s Emergency Response Plan for each school campus and for the District Office
- Develops and maintains crisis management plans for each school campus and for the District Office
- Oversight of each school campus and District Office threat assessments.
- Advise school district administrators on security and protective measures and conduct in-service programs for school site personnel
- Provide oversight and training for each school campus and school safety officers
- Collaboration with Law Enforcement; Coordinate with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies as appropriate.
- Community services; Provides input and collaborates with District personnel for oversight of mental health/social emotional issues related to students and staff.
- Conduct investigations as directed by the superintendent
- Serve as a member of the District Administrative Team.

Work Environment and Hazards
Everyday risk and discomfort: The environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, libraries, residences, or commercial vehicles, e.g., use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals. The work area is adequately lit, heated, and ventilated.
Work Type
Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.

SALARY: $100,000 – 120,000 annually
WORK YEAR: 12 months
REPORTS TO: Superintendent or Designee
EVALUATION: Administrative Evaluation
SUPERVISES: Security Dispatcher, School Safety Officers
