Position Summary:

Skilled in canine behavior, they proactively manage dog interactions to maintain peace and prevent conflicts, instilling confidence in our guests about their pets' safety. Work Environment:
This role requires working outdoors in the dog park under various weather conditions. Rufferees should be prepared for prolonged periods of standing and walking, with frequent interaction with dogs and their owners. Candidates should be physically capable of moving quickly to manage dog interactions and comfortable working in a dynamic outdoor setting.
Responsibilities:
- Canine Supervision and Emergency Management: Monitor dog behavior to ensure safe interactions and intervene in emergencies. Maintain readiness to respond to and manage canine emergencies, including administering basic first aid.
- Animal Behavior Knowledge: Strong understanding of canine behavior and body language to effectively manage interactions and prevent conflicts among canine guests.
- Physical Stamina: High physical stamina to manage active work outdoors, including the ability to walk or stand for extended periods.
- Guest Interaction and Education: Educate guests on dog park etiquette and safety protocols using excellent communication skills to foster a community of well-informed and responsible pet owners.
- Park Maintenance and Safety Enforcement: Uphold cleanliness and safety of the park by promptly addressing messes or hazards and enforcing park rules consistently.
- Guest Engagement: Engage proactively with guests, creating a welcoming atmosphere by answering questions, providing recommendations, and ensuring each visit is memorable.
- Monitor and Ensure Safety: Keep a vigilant eye on the behavior and interaction of dogs to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all guests.
- Training Participation: Participate in ongoing training to continually enhance guest safety and satisfaction.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with all team members to provide a cohesive and exceptional guest experience, making informed decisions about the welfare of all guests and escalating concerns when necessary. Provide input on operational improvements and customer engagement strategies to enhance the overall experience at The Broken Leash and support the continual evolution of service standards.
- Adaptability: Adapt to additional responsibilities as the needs of The Broken Leash evolve, undertaking tasks and projects beyond this list to support the overall success of the establishment.
- Flexible Work Hours: Our schedules are based on business needs and your availability. While shifts aren’t self-chosen, we aim to accommodate your personal schedule as much as possible. We're open daily, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, requiring availability during these peak times.
- Other Duties as Assigned: Perform other related duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
Qualifications:
· Strong observational skills to closely monitor canine behavior and quickly identify signs of distress or aggression to prevent incidents before they escalate.
· Advanced knowledge of canine behavior. Preferably certified in animal behavior or with extensive experience in managing group dynamics among dogs. This includes understanding stress signals, body language, play manners, and aggression triggers.
· Excellent crisis management skills. Trained in emergency response with the ability to efficiently handle and de-escalate situations while ensuring the safety of all guests—canine and human.
· Must be physically capable of moving quickly to intervene in pet interactions and capable of standing and walking for extended periods during shifts.
· Experienced in providing high-level customer service, with the ability to educate and interact with pet owners regarding the safety and enjoyment of their pets in a community environment.
· Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, essential for effective guest interactions and problem resolution.
· Ability to work effectively within a team setting, supporting peers and contributing to a harmonious work environment.
- Minimum of 6 months of professional or personal experience in pet care preferred, with readiness to learn and apply training in pet behavior, first aid, and safety.
- Personable and confident, capable of managing a fast-paced environment and adept at handling diverse customer interactions with professionalism.
