About Your Role as a Custodian
This is a hands-on, full-time position with day-to-day duties that include providing comprehensive Building and ground maintenance services, ensuring a secure, pristine, and well-organized environment. Key responsibilities include conducting inspections, executing cleaning and sanitation duties, maintaining outdoor areas, and facilitating event setup and logistics.
Working Hours
- 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM during the school session
- 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM Monday-Thursday during the summer and school breaks.
- Hours vary and are dependent on business needs.
Essential Duties and Major Responsibilities
Cleaning and Sanitation
- Execute comprehensive cleaning tasks, including sweeping, dusting, mopping, scrubbing, sealing, buffing, and washing of classrooms and restrooms.
- Efficiently gather and dispose of waste materials.
- Perform steam-cleaning or shampooing of carpets.
- Dust furniture, walls, machinery, and equipment to maintain cleanliness.
- Undertake grounds maintenance activities, including sweeping and trash removal.
- Clear debris from outdoor areas.
- Remove snow and ice to ensure safe access.
- Conduct thorough building inspections to ensure security and safety.
- Communicate with management regarding necessary major repairs or enhancements to building systems.
- Adhere to established protocols for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
- Manage the relocation and storage of furniture and equipment.
- Arrange and dismantle decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, or scaffolding to prepare facilities for events.
- Procure necessary supplies or equipment for cleaning and maintenance tasks.
Education and Experience Needed to be Successful
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1 years of experience cleaning buildings and/or maintaining grounds is preferred.
