ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Receive reports of and investigates apparent or suspected violations of rights.
- Act on behalf of recipients of mental health services to obtain remedies for apparent violations.
- Receive, review and investigate reports of alleged violations of recipient’s rights guaranteed under Chapter 7 of the mental health code and CMS conditions of participation.
- Promote resolution of substantial violations.
- Prepare and review agency policies, procedures and standards relating to the rights of recipients.
- Conduct new hire rights training.
- Develop policies and procedures regarding the protection of rights of clients while recommending improvements.
- Attend hospital orientation, staff meetings and keeps all yearly mandatories up-to-date as required.
- Responsible for county rights audits.
- Conduct onsite visitations.
- Ensure compliance of annual rights training.
- Provide staff management to including hiring, development, training, performance management and communication to ensure effective and efficient department operation.
- Demonstrate a positive, empathetic and professional attitude towards customers always. When patient needs are not met, acknowledge and work to resolve complaints. Recognize that patient safety is a top priority.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in human services, management, public administration, social science or law from an accredited college is preferred.
- One or more years’ of professional experience in investigation and advocacy within a private or public human services agency required.
Experience
Required- Experience in investigation and advocacy with in a human services agency
- Experience in customer service or risk management. Experience with behavioral health patients.
Education
Required- High School/GED or better
- Bachelors or better in Human Services or related field
