Emergency Dept Tech Assistant - PT - BBC
Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, is responsible for assisting the ED staff in activities related to moving equipment and patients, as well as stocking carts and rooms. Performs other related duties as assigned. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
1-3 months related experience and/or training preferred
BLS certification required
- Must be friendly, positive, and professional when working with patients
- Must be able to adapt to situations when transporting patients of all ages including children, adolescent, adult, and geriatric
Work which rarely produces a high level of mental/visual fatigue, i.e., less than 20 percent of the work time. Involves considerable standing or walking, regular lifting of light-weight objects (i.e., 20 pounds or less) and assisting with heavier tasks such as assisting in lifting and moving patients. Minor straining or fatiguing positions must be assumed, and some fatiguing physical motions are required.
- Assists Emergency Department Staff with the safe transport of patients to, from, and within the Emergency Department, utilizing proper safety measures.
- Demonstrates application of correct procedures in the use of transportation carts and wheelchairs.
- Assists staff in assuring that patient treatment rooms are adequately stocked to provide patient care utilizing the room stocking checklists in place in the ED.
- Restocks AEC suture cart and ensures that the cart is locked at shift end.
- Picks up and transports supplies as needed.
- Assists in maintaining a clean, safe environment for patients and staff.
- Moves EMS equipment to locker after patient use.
- Replaces sharp containers as needed.
- Demonstrates the ability to prioritize tasks on an on-going basis.
- Demonstrates commitment to providing outstanding customer service in a manner that is reflective of our mission, values and customer service standards.
