Opportunity Summary
Bronx Arts seeks a Middle School Science Teacher responsible for promoting a positive school culture while working with parents, students, and outside instructional consultants to ensure that the high expectations we have for our scholars are maintained in their classroom. Teachers must use their knowledge of the development of young children, in ways which young children learn to support the social, emotional and cognitive development of our scholars.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and teach clear and engaging lessons in your content that follow the rigorous Common Core aligned Bronx Arts curriculum
- Differentiate small group instruction for students with special needs and provide individual or small group instruction for students who require additional academic support
- Develop and use a variety of assessment data to refine curricula and instructional practices.
- Communicate effectively and maintain strong relationships with scholars, families, and colleagues.
- Continuously improve your professional practice through grade-level meetings, weekly coaching sessions, data-driven reflection and professional development, including an annual summer institute.
- Build a warm and inclusive classroom environment, implementing the practices of Responsive Classroom
- Support the social, emotional and cognitive development of adolescent children.
Requirements
- An outstanding classroom teacher who holds scholars to consistently high behavioral and academic expectations.
- A results-driven educator with experience in, and commitment to, the use of data analysis and assessments to drive instructional decisions and teacher accountability.
- A graduate of a Bachelor’s degree program (required), with 2 years of urban teaching experience and state certification (preferred).
