The Trial Division seeks an experienced attorney (10 years) to serve as Chief of the Misdemeanor Trial Bureau. This position involves the day-to-day oversight of processing cases in the District Attorney’s Office and supervises all Bureau staff (legal and support). Reporting to the Trial Division Deputy Chief, the Bureau Chief will serve as the leader of the Bureau, overseeing prosecutions, training, and management of the Bureau.

Job Responsibilities
- Develop and implement prosecution strategies to aid in the effective handling of criminal cases in Bronx County
- Oversee the assignment of cases
- Report to Deputy Division Chief regarding the productivity of the Bureau
- Participate in meetings and conferences between the District Attorney’s Office and other law enforcement agencies
- Serve on the faculty for the Office’s Continuing Legal Education (CLE) programs, including Orientation Training for new Assistants, Grand Jury training, and both Felony and Misdemeanor Trial Training programs
- Day-to-day supervision responsibilities of Bureau staff, including, but not limited to, attendance, training, and development
- Prepare case status and statistical reports, as required
- Be on-call on rotating nights/weekends to handle response to cases and make case assessments
- All other duties as assigned
- A Juris Doctorate, 10 years of trial experience required or the equivalent including 4 years of prior management experience preferred
- New York State residency and US Citizenship required as of the first day of employment
- Excellent people skills and demeanor
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
- Excellent computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
- Excellent presentation and organizational skills
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and strong ethics
- Ability to analytically solve issues or problems from inception through conclusion Ability to motivate, organize, and direct all levels of staff in various responsibilities
- Working knowledge of investigative methods
- Must understand and respond clearly and effectively (oral/written) to complex legal issues
