Job Description

Job Description
The Office of the District Attorney, Bronx County (“BXDA”) is charged with the twin goals of ensuring public safety and striving for equal justice for the over 1.4 million members of the Bronx County community. By “Pursuing Justice with Integrity,” the BXDA places a focus on assistance for crime victims while simultaneously ensuring fairness to defendants. Moreover, the BXDA aims to balance the need to seek appropriate punishment for certain crimes while recognizing when punitive measures do not adequately advance justice. By recognizing these significant distinctions and acting accordingly, BXDA has established a standard of excellence in the representation of the Bronx community at large, which continues to grow stronger every day.

In furtherance of this mission, the BXDA seeks experienced and enthusiastic Specialized TPA for the Youth Justice Bureau. The Youth Justice Bureau handles matters for adolescents charged with serious crimes. Many of these adolescents live with mental health issues, often co-occurring with substance use disorders, and numerous other challenges. Where appropriate, the Youth Justice Bureau offers interventions and services which are provided by numerous community-based organizations and agencies.

The Specialized TPA will collect and use data from the Youth Part to provide grant support. Specifically, the TPA will work on tasks like collaborating with external partners to set up data collection, developing a system to manage data internally, looking at data to understand the program's impact, writing reports for review and federal submission, and creating visual presentations for both internal and external audiences.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Overseeing projects that track how well programs aimed at reducing youth offenses are working, including developing key metrics and checking data to measure results.
  • Under the direction of the Chief and Deputy Chief, monitoring daily activity in the Youth Part and maintaining records.
  • Retrieving and maintaining records and working collaboratively with colleagues and external agencies regarding programs focused on youth and criminal justice, including tracking outcomes, gathering data, and evaluating effectiveness.
  • In collaboration with Bureau management, assisting in the writing of reports on program results, challenges, and recommendations, and creating charts and visuals to clearly communicate findings to stakeholders.
  • Working with other teams to identify overlaps in data collection, fill any gaps, and streamline processes for better results.
  • Attending training and meetings to stay updated on best practices and share progress on projects.
  • Taking on other tasks as needed to help support the Department’s goals.
  • All other duties as assigned.

The City of New York offers a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance for the employee and his/her spouse or domestic partner and unemancipated children under age 26, union benefits such as dental and vision coverage, paid annual leave and sick leave, paid holidays, a pension, and optional savings and pre-tax programs such as Deferred Compensation, IRA, and a flexible spending account.
