Job Description
In furtherance of this mission, the BXDA seeks experienced and enthusiastic Specialized Trial Preparation Assistant to support our Strategic Innovations / Community Justice Bureau.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reviewing and creating case summaries of documents, including criminal histories and medical records.
- Communicating with and acquiring documents from other agencies such as NYPD, other District Attorney’s Offices and court jurisdictions, ACS, OCME, and hospitals.
- Tracking outstanding request for materials and following up on requests in a professional manner.
- Accessing various databases to obtain case materials.
- Learning Bronx District Attorney’s Office and Community Justice Bureau case management applications.
- Assisting with Community Justice Bureau’s case intake process.
- Preparing and organizing digital and physical records of diversion case assessment materials.
- Performing all bureau-related duties as needed or assigned, including but not limited to, drafting or typing of correspondence and confidential documents, updating computer-based tracking systems, record keeping, filing, and document preparation.
- All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
Preferred Skills
QUALIFICATIONS: - A bachelor’s degree, or a high school diploma with four years of work experience in a law firm, governmental agency, or non-profit organization is required. Experience as a paralegal is preferred. - Exceptional organizational skills, strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and organization. - Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. - Must be able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality. - Ability to work independently and effectively under deadlines. - Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat. - Excellent time management skills. - Strong desire and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. - Familiarity with general court services. - Ability to work independently and effectively under deadlines.
Residency Requirement
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
