What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preoperative Patient Associate position at BronxCare Health System?
Overview
Responsible for providing assistance with cleaning and preparing the operating rooms and equipment for all surgical procedures.
Responsibilities
-Following and application of all infection control standards for the OR environment.
-Understand all disinfection and/orsterilization standards for physical space and all equipment and supplies utilized in the space.
-Provide status check before each surgical procedure to assure the adherence to the infection control and safety standards before any procedure.
-Conduct and oversee the operating rooms cleaning after the surgical procedure to assure all equipment has been properly cleaned, appropriate covering deployed, all hazarded materials are properly contained and disposed. This shall include the OR beds/gurneys, wheelchairs and equipment on wheels that are shared within the OR rooms. Removal of linen and full sharp containers.
-Assists supply clerks with reviewing and maintaining supplies as it relates to the perioperative par levels for the OR surgical rooms.
-Assists supply clerks with ongoing supply reviews daily to assure each OR room is fully stocked and ready for use.
-Assists with the replacement and ordering of supplies from central supplies.
-Keep accurate records of par levels.
-Work with supervisors to review cases for the next day to determine OR room stock preparation.
-Assist with setting up supplies.
-Serve assupply runner when needed.
-Assists OR nurses for the management of equipment to assure that they have all been inspected and labeled by biomedical accordingly, checks for inspection compliance and that dates are reflected of current inspections.
-Review ifany will need repair and flag to remove for repair. Assists OR nurses and management to assure backup equipment available to replace any equipment that is removed fromcirculation.
Qualifications
•High School Diploma – certification in OR operations preferred or experience as a Nurse Aide• 1-year experience as Nurse Aide preferably in a surgical environment• Basic knowledge of CSPD process• BLS certification• Excellent verbal and written communication skills• Strong customer service & application of BronxCare Value Service Principles• Strong collaborative skills to work as a team• Basic computer skills• Ability to structure work assignments, prioritize for prompt results• Maintain confidentialit
