Job Description

Job Title : Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Specialty : Chemo / Infusion Nurse - Oncology

Job Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : 8-hour shifts with a 1-hour lunch, totaling 35 hours a week

Guaranteed Hours : 34.5 hours per week

Experience : Minimum of 1 year of chemotherapy infusion experience

License : Yes, required for submission

Certifications : ACLS, BLS, Biotherapy certification

Must-Have :

Chemotherapy infusion experience for at least one year
Skills in IV starts, accessing central lines, and performing central line dressing changes
Punctuality and reliability

Job Description :

Work in a department equipped with 10 chemotherapy chairs and 6 infusion / Iron chairs

Provide care to an average of 30-35 iron infusion patients per day and 12-19 chemotherapy patients per day

Maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio with 6 RNs on shift at a time; 4 must be chemo-certified; 2 can manage iron and other infusions

Handle common diagnoses such as cancer, rheumatology, immune disease conditions, hydration, chronic kidney disease, etc.

Deliver common infusions including chemotherapy, blood products, iron, hydration, biologics, gastrointestinal, and rheumatology infusions

Perform IV starts, central line access and dressing changes, infusions, and therapeutic phlebotomy

Conduct lab draws through central lines, with PCT and lab assistance available

Coordinate shifts with self-scheduling flexibility for a day off, managed by the department supervisor

Follow dress code requirements with Royal Blue scrubs

Participate in a general facility orientation and extensive unit-specific training with ongoing education on new drugs

Utilize AllScripts for electronic medical records

Enjoy no weekend or holiday work requirements

Benefit from support such as a charge nurse taking a full assignment and assistance from patient care technicians for patient intake, vital signs, and phlebotomy tasks.
