RESPONSIBILITIES
Family Engagement:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with families.
- Act as a welcoming presence and ensure inclusivity.
- Conduct outreach to identify and engage families.
Activity Organization:
- Plan and co-design family-oriented activities and offerings with the community.
- Collaborate with staff and community to design engaging programs.
- Ensure activities and offerings are inclusive and culturally responsive.
Community Feedback:
- Collect and analyze feedback to inform programs.
- Distribute and collect surveys on community needs.
- Advocate for family needs within the FEC and community.
Support and Communication:
- Provide information and support to families.
- Facilitate connections to community resources.
- Empower families to participate in FEC activities.
Collaboration:
- Work with the FEC team to address family needs.
- Establish relationships with community partners.
- Attend community meetings and events.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree in social work or another related field of study AND three (3) years of professional experience;
- OR a high school diploma AND five (5) years of professional experience in community-driven-programs working directly with children, youth, and families. Local community members with extensive experience are a plus.
- Strong oral and written communication, time management and organizational skills are necessary.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other standard business technology is required.
- Mental Health First Aid training is required.
- Family Development Credential (FDC) is preferred within one year of hire.
Preferred
- Knowledge of, lived experience in, and commitment to, the FEC community
- Outstanding people/interpersonal skills
- Bilingual • Available to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed.
- Experience caring for children (as a parent, guardian, relative, neighbor, or babysitter)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to climb five flights of stairs, if required to conduct home visits and/or fieldwork.
- Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
- Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
- Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and/or field work.
