Description
Brook Plaza Ophthalmology is seeking a full time experienced Ophthalmic Technician to join our large practice, in Brooklyn, NY.
Job duties include but not limited to:
- Perform initial examination of patient including obtaining a comprehensive medical history
- Conduct appropriate tests including Visual Field, OCT, IOP, UBM, Lenstar, and Optos Fundus Photo, B-scan and A-scan immersions
- Assist physicians in the exam room and electronically chart as needed
- Enter notes for patients in the EMR system
- Perform auto and manifest refraction to obtain prescription for glasses
- Flow patients from waiting area to exam rooms and testing areas
- Interface with surgical coordinator for patients that require procedures
- Apply drops to dilate, anesthetize, or medicate eyes as per doctor instructions
- Renew patient eye drop prescriptions as directed by doctor
- Prepare and clean exam rooms and office equipment
Schedule:
- Monday – Thursday (8:00 am – 5:00 pm)
- Friday (7:30 / 8:00 am – 2:00 pm)
- Sunday (1x per month 7:30 – 12:30 pm)

Qualifications
Job Qualifications
- Must have 1 to 2 years of recent work experience as an Ophthalmic Technician
- Must have a working knowledge of most tests required for patients with cataracts & glaucoma
- Must be available to work at least one Sunday per month (8:00 am - 1:00 pm)
- Fluent Creole, Russian, or Spanish speaker is a plus but not required
- Must be extremely professional
- Must have an attention to detail and be able to work well with other members of our team
- Must be able to provide quality patient care in an efficient manner
- High school or equivalent
Salary : $24 - $28
