- Must sort laundry received in compliance with necessary precautions, properly load washer, utilize correct wash cycle, transfer wet clothing to dryers, utilize correct dryer cycle, unload dryer, fold clean laundry, fill and organize linen carts, deliver linen carts to designated units in a timely fashion and fold or hang resident clothing and deliver to resident rooms in a timely fashion.
- Must inspect condition of facility linens or resident laundry, report any damages, and follow specified protocol for repairing or replacing.
- May be required to handle heavy loads with or without assistance.
- Must work in hot and damp environment.
- Responsible for proper running of equipment and proper amounts of chemicals.
- Will not use bleaching agents on any resident's clothing or personal items.
- Must keep separate linen carts for transporting of soiled and clean items.
- Must keep contaminated linens of possible infectious condition in separate double bags, appropriately marked. These items are to be laundered and disinfected properly.
- Must comply will all EPA and OSHA regulations, as well as the safety policies of Brooke Grove.
- Must clean lint traps on each dryer daily.
- Will keep laundry area clean; must take trash from laundry area to trash compactor on a daily basis, and will sweep, mop and perform other cleaning duties to maintain department cleanliness as necessary.
- Ensure that established infection control and universal precaution practices are followed in the Laundry department, as some tasks may involve exposure to blood/body fluids.
- Will report repairs and equipment problems immediately to your supervisor.
- Will report needed supplies to your supervisor, before running out.
- Interact with residents in a polite and helpful manner while performing daily duties.
- Respect for the principles of resident rights and confidentiality.
- Attend and participate in facility meetings and in-services as scheduled.
- Maintain a productive working relationship with co-workers and department supervisors to be sure that services can be performed without interruption.
- High school diploma or GED preferred; or up to one-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of the operation and care of commercial washers and dryers.
- Good knowledge of OSHA and Public Health Sanitation guidelines for universal precautions and infection control.
