The Brooke-Hancock-Jefferson Regional Planning Commission (BHJ) is accepting applications for the position of Communications Planner. BHJ serves as the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for the Weirton-Steubenville Metropolitan Area and the Economic Development District for Brooke and Hancock counties, WV. As an Interstate Planning Commission (IPC), BHJ provides transportation planning and community development services for its member governments.
The Communications Planner will have varied responsibilities accountable to the Executive Director. Applicant must have the ability to work as a self-starter with minimal guidance and possess excellent communication skills. Familiarity with transportation planning terms, methods and concepts is a plus. Job duties include managing, writing, and editing communication materials such as website, e-newsletter, social media content. Additional duties will include, data collection, production of graphic reports, and specific program administration to support BHJ’s annual Overall Work Program & Budget. The ideal candidate should have work experience or educational background in communications, journalism, public administration, urban planning, or engineering.
This is a regular full-time position with a salary range $45,000-$58,000. Starting salary depending on qualifications. Full-time benefits include health insurance, workers compensation, public employee retirement, life insurance, Medicare, and paid leave.
