Position Overview:
Brookfield Construction is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Superintendent to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will assist in overseeing day-to-day operations at the construction site, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within scope, and adhering to all safety standards. This role requires strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage various subcontractors and maintain a clean, safe, and efficient job site.
Key Responsibilities:
Site Management:
- Monitor and maintain a clean, organized, and safe construction site in compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
- Ensure all subcontractors follow safety protocols and maintain an orderly work environment.
- Oversee daily site activities and manage the flow of subcontractors to ensure a smooth and efficient construction process.
- Schedule Adherence:
- Review, track, and adhere to the project construction schedule to ensure timely completion of work.
- Coordinate with the Project Superintendent and Project Manager to adjust schedules as needed based on site conditions and progress.
Subcontractor Coordination:
- Manage and monitor the performance of subcontractors, ensuring they work efficiently and according to the project timeline.
- Communicate daily with subcontractors to ensure their work is properly sequenced and meets quality standards.
- Quality Control:
- Assist in the review of construction documents, ensuring all work adheres to plans and specifications.
- Perform regular site inspections to identify potential issues and work proactively to resolve them before they impact the schedule.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate daily reports and logs, documenting progress, subcontractor performance, and any potential issues or delays.
- Assist with the review and management of project documentation, including RFI responses, change orders, and punch lists.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Collaborate with the Project Manager, Superintendent, and other site personnel to resolve construction issues and ensure seamless operations.
- Attend regular site meetings and provide updates on job site progress, challenges, and requirements.
Qualifications:
- 1 years of construction experience, with a focus on residential or commercial construction.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations and safety standards.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, schedules, and documents.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage subcontractors and site personnel.
- Proficiency in construction management software and basic office software (MS Word, Excel, etc.).
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working on multi-family, residential, or commercial projects.
- Prior experience with project scheduling software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, etc.).
- Basic understanding of construction trades and sequence of work.
