CUSTODIAN - NIGHT
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
The duties and responsibilities include the daily overall care, cleaning, and maintenance of the facility to which he/she is assigned.
JOB GOAL
To maintain the physical school plant and grounds in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of them may be made at all times.
EVALUATION
According to the bargaining agreement.
ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED
(Including but not limited to)
Is responsible for the training of custodial staff members, substitutes, and scheduled maintenance.
- Plans and supervises the general maintenance and repair work of the school facility, maintaining a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency.
- Maintains weekly records of custodial employee attendance; records reasons for absences, names of substitutes (if any), and hours worked and forwards to Town School Office.
- Maintains an inventory of all custodial maintenance supplies/equipment and submits requests for supplies and equipment as needed.
- Evaluates the performance of the custodial staff on a regular basis and reports performance issues to the Facilities Supervisor regularly in writing
- Works in cooperation with the building administrators and other staff members to ensure and promote the safety, health, and comfort of the students and employees.
- Maintains and ensures ongoing maintenance of building and equipment at all times by submitting work requests through the district's work order database.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, CAPACITIES
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedural manuals, and blueprints.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, either written or electronically.
- Ability to address the public and employees both in group settings and individually effectively and courteously.
- Ability to interpret, understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to perform hands-on duties and physically able to manipulate heavy objects.
- Ability to operate and use safely all equipment related to performing duties.
- Proficiency in computer use for operational reports and maintenance of work order database, energy management systems, programmable equipment, etc.
- General knowledge of basic trades including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, and ability to perform general repairs as needed related to building custody.
- A clear understanding of and ability to maintain on-site all state-mandated programs such as;
- Asbestos Management Plan (AMP)
- Integrated Pest Management Plan (IPM)
- Indoor Air Quality (IAQ)
- Blood Borne Pathogens (BBP)
- Green Cleaning
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Must have an acceptable performance record.
- TERMS OF EMPLOYMENTAs established by the agreement between the Board of Education and the Brookfield Custodian’s Association.
