The Site Manager for Kaheawa Wind I & II projects will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the combined 34 MW wind facilities situated in Maui, HI. The position is responsible for overseeing the technician team and completing the day-to-day operations of the site, including maintenance of wind turbines and related equipment. You will also handle troubleshooting to diagnose and fix problems that cause turbines to shut down or fail to operate properly and ensure proper operation of equipment and compliance with safety requirements and procedures.

Along with the Sr. Asset Manager, West, you will be tasked with the management of site technicians, including scheduling, ensuring proper training, emphasizing the HSSE program, adhering to regulatory compliance and annual operating plan budgets. Additionally, you will work with other team members to manage vendors, subcontractors, specialty maintenance crews, and consultants, coordinating efforts with third parties. You will also be the site representative within the local communities.

You will also be responsible for coordinating with the Sr. Asset Manager, West and Manager, Performance Engineering to monitor daily asset performance, regulatory compliance, and annual operating plan budgets. Additionally, the position collaborates with other cross-functional divisions to support the creation of internal and external reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a safety program that complies with the TERP HSSE requirements and all local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Assist and / or provide training and support to the Technicians so that each technician clearly understands how to perform component assembly, commissioning, testing, repair, and maintenance on wind turbine and related equipment.
  • Train and assist Service Technicians on proper methods for performing preventative maintenance tasks on all wind turbines and associated equipment.
  • Lead and support the Technicians in troubleshooting, calibration, repair, and retrofitting of low to medium voltage electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic components that are part of the wind turbine and its associated switchgear.
  • Work with HSSE to train personnel in the proper use of safety gear, protective equipment, and control of energy sources to ensure work is performed safely.
  • Work with Operations Support Specialist to schedule, track, and maintain required documentation and records associated with corrective and preventive maintenance of wind turbines and associated equipment.
  • Ensure swift response to emergencies caused by outages, scheduled maintenance, and on-call reporting.
  • Monitor the tool inventory at the wind farm, maintain consumables, and spares parts inventory.
  • Carries out all responsibilities under environmental legislation to prevent environmental spills.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Working knowledge of wind turbine and related power plant systems.
  • Experience with GE 1.5se MW turbines or similar turbine models.
  • Good communication and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent planning and project management skills.
  • The ability to prioritize between tasks.
  • Qualifications

  • Associate degree or technical school certificate, or 5 or more years of directly related work experience in place of a degree / technical certificate with a high school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role of technical, operations, or maintenance personnel.
  • Handle repetitive weight of ~ 50 lbs, and climb towers up to 300 feet daily.
  • Meet specified manufacturer weight limits not to exceed 300 lbs including required gear.
  • Understand electrical schematic drawings, technical manuals, procedures, and regulations.
  • Capable of contributing in a team environment with asset managers, engineers, site personnel, and third-party contractors.
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license / clean driving record.
  • Flexibility to work rotating shift schedules, and on-call per site needs.
  • Willingness to travel

  • Up to 10%.
