Our Sault Ste. Marie technical team is looking for an Electrical Engineer to join their team on-site who will plan, organize and direct engineering activities to optimize wind and hydropower facilities. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team that provides technical support to our operations groups and completes capital projects for our Ontario assets.

What you’ll be doing:
- Provide engineering advice and develop engineering solutions and supervise the development and revision of preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance programs, policies and procedures;
- Assist in capital and maintenance budget preparation and prioritize, plan and schedule of work budgeted including recommendations on retention of consultants;
- Propose improvements and evaluate new technologies to minimize operating costs, risk and potential losses and maximize potential generation;
- Coordinate the development, design and commissioning of engineering projects and serve as Project Manager for project delivery and implementation;
- Manage and/or participate in projects such as managing work, RFP’s, specs and drawings, proposal review and contract award, tendering phase, debriefing, quality assurance and finalization;
- Prepare, review, negotiate and finalize contract documents and supervise contract administration to ensure compliance with permits, policies and codes.
You should apply if you:
- Have considerable field engineering, commissioning and project management experience; hydrology experience preferred
- Are knowledgeable of power generation technologies
- Possess excellent negotiation, facilitation and leadership skills, discretion and judgement;
- Are able to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team and to manage multiple concurrent projects;
- Have strong verbal and written communication skills and planning, prioritizing and organizing abilities;
- Are proficient with Microsoft applications;
- Maintain a strong personal commitment to continuous improvement;
- Value excellence in safety and environmental performance.
What you must have:
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in Electrical Engineering field engineering and project management experience;
- Degree in engineering, and registration (or eligible for registration) as a P. Eng. in Ontario;
- Demonstrated experience in the following areas:
- PLC, RTU, HMI and Multiplexer (Schneider MODICON, SEL RTAC, Wonderware, GE JungleMUX)
- IESO, NERC and Transmission System Code/Standard compliance Activities
- Generation, Transmission and associated protections controls and testing
- Power Engineering
- Automation Engineering
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team and can manage multiple concurrent projects;
- Maintain and hold a valid driver’s license and are able to travel (primarily day trips 30-40% through Ontario) as required.
