DUTIES: Under general supervision, on a schedule to operate and be responsible for all activities involved in the operation of the unattended generating stations, and/or substations. Duties to include:
• Periodic inspection of equipment and properties, including public safety and dam safety devices;
• Record readings, log information and compile and issue reports;
• Perform routine tests;
• Act as operating authority on LOTO procedures;
• Act as a system controller when delegated “controllership”;
• Starting and stopping of large rotating machines;
• Direct operation of lines and stations equipment as required;
• Assist other operators as required;
• Maintain clean and orderly conditions;
• Do minor maintenance work, or when on schedule, to work in a maintenance crew as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Should have minimum one year experience as a Traveling Operator A or equivalent. Must demonstrate ability in station operation to which assigned and a thorough knowledge of the layout, equipment, and operating requirements of the generating stations, systems and associated switch-gear to which assigned. Must have general mathematical skills and aptitude. Must have demonstrated a thorough and complete knowledge of Company policies and practices relative to System Operations. Must have the ability to read mechanical and electrical schematics. Must demonstrate ability to think clearly and logically and apply an analytical approach to problem resolution under rapidly changing conditions. Must interface well with others, clearly communicating decisions and information.
